Where are Earthquakes?

The image above shows the top 10 South Australian Earthquakes from 2000 to 2009. South Australia has been recording earthquakes for 150 years, and there have been several earthquakes experienced. This picture of the Adelaide region shows the largest earthquakes recorded between the year 2000 and 2009, varying from magnitudes of 4.2 to 5.1 . The techniques for recording earthquakes include equipment that has become so sensitive that a Kangaroo hopping near the site can peak the audio recordings. Although the number of monitoring stations has increased and improved, the actual frequencies of earthquakes remain the same.

Throughout the history of earthquake records, there have been three since 1837 that have caused damage to Adelaide. The South Australian government website states that the three events happened in 1897, 1902, and 1954. The smallest of the three earthquakes occurred in 1954, but it was the closest to Adelaide and the most damaging.
